Using Hypnotherapy and CBT to manage anxiety and panic.

Anxiety and panic are distinct (although not necessarily unassociated) conditions.

Anxiety is generally a response to a perceived threat (which may be real and immediate, rather distant, or even non-existent). Panic attacks may be expected (in response to particular and previously identified triggers) or unexpected, with no obvious cause, and tend to occur very suddenly.

Fortunately, both conditions can be effectively treated with Hypnotherapy Anxiety and Panic Technique and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

How anxiety or panic may affect you?

Anxiety and panic affect many people’s lives, and it can feel as though the contributing factors are increasing week on week.

Here are certain symptoms of anxiety and panic that occur regularly among clients.

  • Feeling unable to relax at any time is very common in anxiety and panic. In addition to being highly unsettling and causing extreme fatigue, it can be both concerning and irritating to family members, colleagues, and friends.
  • Feeling that something bad is about to happen is another manifestation of anxiety I see often. The ‘something’ varies from existential fears about death or illness to far more prosaic worries about job security, financial security or even being liked.
  • Being unable to sleep,  or experiencing only very poor quality sleep is also often down to anxiety. The knock-on effects of poor sleep are significant; however, they may well compound anxiety and a sense of panic.

I cannot thank Paul enough for all that he has done for me over the past few years. He has helped me overcome obstacles that, at the time, seemed like mountains but calmly, mindfully and patiently we have worked through so much.

My approach to helping
manage anxiety and panic.

Anxiety and panic affect people in many different ways, and until I hear about your specific experience my mind is open as to precisely the best way to help. Having said this, the core therapies and tools that I work with all have a role to play in dealing with anxiety and panic.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy Anxiety and Panic technique is gentle and totally safe. You will remain in control at all times. However, it offers us a way to relax our subconscious mind and enables us to experience a way to create a state of calmness in the face of anxiety or panic.

CBT

In many cases, CBT is also helpful in building an approach to managing anxiety by allowing us to modify the patterns of thoughts we experience in certain situations.

Mindfulness

I found that learning to practice mindfulness benefits many clients suffering from anxiety and panic, providing a practical ‘mental maintenance’ tool that can be used at any time to deal with unsettling thoughts and feelings.

Paul Levrant. Hypnotherapy, CBT and mindfulness to help manage anxiety and panic.

I have been assisting clients in dealing with anxiety and panic since I began practicing in 2008. Having come to train as a therapist in mid-life following a long and often stressful career in business, I practice Hypnotherapy and CBT, and make use of Mindfulness, all of which approaches are relevant to treating these life-impairing conditions.
